Job description

Summary:
Design, procure, install, and maintain furnace and acid leaching processing equipment to achieve safety, quality and productivity requirements. Develop and maintain operational and maintenance procedures relating to this equipment, including a comprehensive preventive maintenance system. Assist and direct maintenance workers in troubleshooting and to develop work-around procedures in the event of equipment or system failures. Install, maintain, upgrade and program PLC controllers. Modify equipment and control software to accommodate process changes. Plan and implement changes to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Responsible for 8-10 maintenance mechanics and electricians.
Initiate improvements and upgrades to high temperature/CVI vacuum furnaces, ovens, acid leach equipment and process controls to increase reliability.
Manage the SAP preventive maintenance system and spare parts inventory.
Manage capital projects and direct the efforts of contractors and consulting engineers to meet schedules and budgets.
Specify, configure, and maintain PLCs, computer-based control and data acquisition systems.
Continuously evaluate processing requirements and equipment performance and devise improvements and modifications.
Provide technical support for operation and maintenance personnel.
Prepare Work Instructions for operation and maintenance of equipment.
Prepare mechanical and electrical drawings, P&ID drawings, and specifications. Size, specify, and select equipment to meet process requirements.
Available on-call 24/7 to provide support and direct furnace operators and maintenance personnel.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, related field, or other relevant 4-year Technical Degree with an emphasis on instrumentation and controls.

Minimum 4 years supervisory or managerial experience with heavy machinery, production lines or related fields

A thorough grounding and direct experience in vacuum technology, heat transfer, fluid / gas flow, electrical power distribution, and distributed control systems is (Preferred). It requires the ability to define, conceive, design and procure components to maintain our system.

Experience in union environment preferred.

Experience with Industrial Process Controls using DCS, PLC Systems and Facilities / Plant Engineering

Strong critical thinking and organizational skills

Ability to identify and solve inefficiencies in processes
