Maintenance Engineer II - This 1.0fte/Full-time position in the Maintenance Department is typically scheduled 40 hours per week, 8/hour shifts, variable days, with some call required.

Non-exempt, pay range $27.83-$40.07

The Maintenance Engineer II perform duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of hospital in good repair including but not limited to minor electrical work, mechanical repairs, and other duties relating to maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • 1. Assists in maintaining and repairing H.V.A.C. controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas. Performs daily equipment checks, logs and addresses all equipment and building needs.
  • 2. Performs urgent corrective, routine, and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required. Follows work request policies and procedures.
  • 3. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and systems as required.
  • 4. As required, assists in maintaining electrical wiring and emergency generator systems. Inspects and tests equipment/systems.
  • 5. Performs preventative maintenance duties to all physical structures of hospital and complies with all building safety codes including facility equipment and associated controls.
  • 6. Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system. Assists in the creation and development of preventative maintenance procedures.
  • 7. Performs manual duties as requested (i.e., moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material). Assists in setting up for hospital functions.
  • 8. Maintain established Hospital and Department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control, and comply with codes and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
  • 9. Attend in-services and meetings as required
  • 10. Maintain professional growth and development through in-services, seminars and workshops.
  • 11. Reads blueprints, interprets instructions, and prepares specifications.
  • 12. Works day, evening, or night shift as assigned. Shares on-call duties with other maintenance personnel.
  • 13. Knowledge and observance of safety precautions.
  • 14. In the event of inclement weather, the Maintenance Engineer II will be expected to make every effort to arrive at Mason General Hospital to assist in whatever capacity may be needed.
15. Perform other related duties and projects as directed.

Required Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five (5) year continuous related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
4. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
5. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
6. Ability to describe, in department specific terminology, mechanical needs, repairs, situations, etc.
