Job description
The responsibilities of the Mailing Department Manager include, mail data processing, record-keeping, hands on work in the operation of the Mail room as well as performing supervisory oversight and coordination with the US Postal Service.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates and schedules the processing of Direct Marketing mail pieces in accordance and compliance with United States Postal Service regulations.
- Interact daily with other departments to ensure smooth and timely flow of materials into the letter shop for processing.
- Interact daily with other departments to ensure daily delivery schedule is met.
- Interact with outside vendors to secure consumables for the Mailing department, and schedule local and national freight lines as needed
- Remain current on USPS regulations and maintain a good working relationship with USPS Business Mail clerks.
- Supervises mail room staff including training, planning, scheduling and organizing work assignments in conjunction with the Plant Manager
- Complies with specific mail processes for each Client.
- Trains and enforces Mailing Department safety procedures.
- Ensures Mailing Department equipment is in safe, working order.
- Facilitates Iron Mountain confidential waste and recycle disposal procedures.
Required Experience
- Five years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Mail/Letter shop and/or Bindery experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with a wide range of personalities and skill sets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven customer service skills in a fast-paced work environment.
- Familiarity with BCC Mail Manager mailing software.
