FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

Under limited supervision, performs effective and responsible professional work to support the overall planning efforts of the Student Assignment Office. Work involves supporting the planning and coordination of the School Showcase in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Department, hosting location for event, assisting with the management of the online magnet/choice application system, providing support, information, and training to schools, communicates magnet/choice offerings to parents. The position takes a supporting role in the managing the department website, responding to calls from families, and responding to the department email accounts. Complex and confidential situations may arise requiring discretionary judgment and independent action. Infrequent evening and weekend work may be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Professionally responds to a high volume of parent phone calls, application questions, and emails.
  • Develops and maintains the event schedule for magnet/choice events and projects.
  • Develops and maintains project and application databases.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining the Student Assignment website.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Student Assignment Office, Student Information Office, the Transportation Office and the Facilities and Planning Office to assist with the coordination of services
  • Attends district and community events related to magnet and choice programs, including some evenings.
  • Assists the Student Assignment Office with the online application process.
  • Maintains the database of partnerships and community contacts.
  • Assists with professional development trainings for central office and school-based staff on the magnet/choice application process.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of WS/FCS policies
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws surrounding magnet and choice programs, Title IX, Title I
  • Considerable knowledge of K-12 magnet and choice options
  • Ability to coordinate large programs and events
  • Ability to set high-level goals and develop and execute long range plans effectively
  • Ability to support parents, school staff, and community members with questions related to magnet and choice programs
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate pertinent information from the records
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects and see projects through to completion.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate programs, policies, and practices.
  • Ability to design training programs.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, analyze information and make recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Possess excellent customer service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum: High School Diploma/GED
  • Desirable: Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Minimum: Three years' experience in related position; or any equivalent combination of training
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

Valid and up-to-date driver's license is required. Possession of or ability to obtain a Notary Public within six month.
