Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. (CPC) is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to serve as a Small Boat Engineer/Operator for vessel support services at Naval Base Ventura County, located in Port Hueneme, CA. The proposed Engineer shall possess expertise in military small craft maintenance and repair, vessel at-sea transfer, and documented experience in marine system troubleshooting techniques. This is a Full-Time position requiring daily reporting to Port Hueneme facility and may require travel to remote locations, working in at-sea and/or dockside environments and sometimes at remote locations with occasional over-night assignments. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Main-supporting small vessel (12’-60’) operations and maintenance located at Point Hueneme, CA.
• Operate military small craft operations and procedures, specifically high-speed rough water operations.
• Knowledge with Mercury Marine gasoline inboard/outboard marine engines- highly desired
• Ability to diagnosing marine engine malfunctions (all models) and effect repairs to restore equipment to an operating condition- required.
• Ability to follow established preventative maintenance programs utilizing technical service manuals and schematic charts for marine engines and related marine equipment.- required
• Assist in fabrication of equipment and provide recommendations for required purchase of parts and supplies. • Serve as a crew member on various size vessels.
• Other duties as assigned to include forklift operator, HAZMAT, safe and effective use of PPE and small hand tools

Work Conditions:

• Duties performed both indoors and outdoors.
• Outdoor duties may be performed on shore and afloat on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet.
• Requires the ability to work in a seaborne environment with some shift work at remote locations with occasional over-night assignments.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Travel to remote working locations required and routine deployments on support and target vessels may be required, INCONUS and occasional OCONUS for mission support. Overtime required at times to support operations. Work Schedule currently is a 9/80 schedule (Mon – Thurs 9 hours, alternating Friday, 1 work 8 hrs. 1 off) Education/Experience/Skills:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Technical school training or specialized training in the appropriate field required or a total of four-six (4-6) years’ experience in performing the stated functions may replace education
• Experience in a military environment (E5+) or on a military facility preferred but not required
• Basic understanding of Computer/Networking/MS Office
• Works well with others as a member of a team
• Current CA Driver License required.
• U S Citizenship required.
• Must obtain an U.S. DoD Security Interim Clearance prior to hire date, final clearance must be granted and clearance must be maintained throughout employment.
