Becht is looking for a Machinery Engineering Lead candidate who wants to take the next step in their technical career to join our world-class family-owned engineering organization
What you'll do:
As the Machinery Engineering Lead for the Machinery Division , you will work directly with clients, subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other divisions within Becht to manage projects, develop and execute short and long-range strategies and plans to grow the business, maintain or develop client relationships, recruit and develop new talent to support growth objectives for area of responsibility. The Machinery Engineering Lead will contribute to division profit and loss responsibilities and will be eligible for incentive packages including a bonus for meeting or exceeding goals.
Maintaining Client Needs and Relationships – Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients in areas of responsibility. Expectations include understanding client needs and providing clients with appropriate timely support, resources, or services.
Develop and Manage Projects – Work with clients and multidiscipline teams of subject matter experts, develop proposals and budgets to ensure scope and expectations are fully defined, ensure projects are executed in a timely manner and on budget, and ensure client expectations and objectives are met.
Business Development – In addition to maintaining existing client base and business, grow business in areas of responsibility through the development and execution of short-term and long-term strategies developed in collaboration with the Account Manager, Regional Managers, and other Division Managers. Specific activities include,
- Work with Account Managers, Regional Managers, or Advisor networks to leverage contacts or existing relationships to identify and cultivate new clients.
- Developing business opportunities in adjacent market spaces and cultivating client relationships through conferences, summits, or client visits.
- Identify macro trends, identifying new potential clients or adjacent market spaces.
Organization Management and Development – Manage staff of subject matter experts and develop organization to support area of responsibility. Activities include,
- Determine resource requirements including part-time and full-time staff to develop an organizational structure to support growth goals for area of responsibility.
- Recruit, vet, and document resources to ensure that key skills, experience, and desires are identified and known.
- Identify industry conferences or symposiums to develop and identify and recruit talent in areas of responsibility.
- Lead activities to develop the Becht Vibration Analysis Program
- Lead activities in the Digital Transformation of the Becht Machinery Program
- Assistance with client rotating equipment issues,
- Some travel involved (10-25%). The initial training period will be in Houston, TX (2+ weeks), with working remotely possible as development progresses.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
- 5-10 years’ rotating equipment experience in the refining, petrochemical, power generation, or related industries
- Strong grasp of equipment fundamentals ranging from vibration analysis to basic failure analysis.
- Self-motivated with exceptional written and verbal communication, organization, analytical, and planning skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and management competency
- Proficiency with API, ISO, and PIP Machinery Standards
- Professional experience with company specifications and use
Desired Skills
Experience with managing people
- Some experience with writing proposals and reviewing estimates
- Familiarity with large machinery specification installation, maintenance, and overhaul
- Experience with the use of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) tools
- Vibration analysis expertise and familiarity with data collection devices
