About the role

As M&A, Corporate Development and Strategy Expert you will be a direct report to our Head Corporate Development & Strategy. Within the team your primary responsibility will be to drive Swiss Re Solutions' (SRS's) corporate development and strategy initiatives, and to deliver & implement the business's strategy together with the executive team. In this role, you will work closely with the SRS sales team, client and product managers across Swiss Re, as well as Principal Investments and Acquisitions, and use their understanding of client needs today and tomorrow to drive growth. The role will be strategic, forward looking, and continuously seeking to identify where Swiss Re can create new value from solutions and differentiate ourselves from our competitors. You will perform a high-quality job by proactively delivering on those fields, engaging with stakeholders in and outside the Division, and delivering on additional assignments.


The opportunity


  • Help drive SRS strategy and shape the Division's strategic priorities. You will develop, implement, and monitor key corporate development and strategic initiatives across the end-to-end value chain on a global basis.
  • Provide the relevant information for the Head Corporate Development & Strategy to influence the strategic direction and decisions of the Reinsurance BU and the wider Swiss Re organization.
  • Build internal and external relationships to work closely with sales, client market, and product managers, as well as PIA and other relevant teams to define growth opportunities
  • Help manage corporate development activities of the business, including management of external relationships, internal capital allocation, and evaluation, negotiation, execution, and integration of corporate transactions and partnerships
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of financial model underlying the strategic plan, and evaluating business performance and corporate transactions in terms of impacts

About you


  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Accounting, or a related field
  • Experience with integration / deal & partnership origination & M&A
  • 3+ years of relevant full-time work experience in a project focused, analytical environment (e.g. Corporate Development and Strategy, Corporate Finance, Consulting, Transformation or Integration, Private Equity)
  • Strong understanding of or industry experience with (re)insurance, technology, data & analytics, or financial services
  • Demonstrated analytical ability, financial savviness and modelling skills
  • Outstanding numerical skills, an ability to translate raw information into concrete strategies and initiatives, and present complexity in an easily understandable way
  • Desire to further develop investing and strategy acumen and executing corporate transactions as well as strategic transformation projects, with time, take on responsibility for leading projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interact and collaborate within a corporate environment
  • Good presence, judgement, and "self-starter" personality, curiosity to learn

For New York City the estimated base salary range for this position is $108,000 to $178,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
