Atherton Baptist Homes in Alhambra, CA is hiring a full time LVN on the night shift from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.

For 108 years, Atherton has been an established Continuing Care Retirement Community. We are in need of a LVN Charge Nurse for our 99 bed Skilled Nursing Facility. Other Full and part time positions are also available. PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The purpose of the Charge Nurse is to plan, organize and direct resident care on the assigned unit in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines, regulations and as directed by the Director of Nursing in order to assure the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Be responsible for the total nursing care of assigned residents during the shift worked.

· Supervise nurse assistants and assure that nursing care being provided is of highest quality.

· Insure that individual nursing care plans are followed.

· Administer all prescribed medications and treatments and document according to facility policy.

· Supervise the serving of all prescribed diets.

· Protect residents from accident or injury.

· Be responsible for completing all charting according to facility policy.

· Insure that nursing care plans are complete and current.

· Be responsible for cleanliness and orderliness of all assigned areas of the nursing facility.

· Recognize significant changes in resident condition, take necessary action and notify family and physician.

· Oversee the preparation and forwarding of appropriate copies of clinical records with the transfer of a resident.

REQUIRED OTHER FUNCTIONS:

· Attend departmental and all-staff in-services and continuing education programs.

· Observe and practice safety and infection control procedures.

· Protect resident’s rights and confidentiality at all times.

· Be able to work harmoniously with co-workers.

· Be able to deal tactfully with residents, family members and visitors.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

· Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.

· Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold a current license in the State of California.

· IV certification is preferred.

· Have a current CPR card.

· Some training and experience in supervision and rehabilitation in a geriatric setting is preferred.

· Must be able to make independent decisions.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

· May be subject to multiple calls and frequent interruptions.

· May be subject to emotionally upset residents, family members or visitors.

· Must be able to deal with ill disabled senior adults.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· May be called on to work beyond normal work hours when necessary.

· May be called on to work in areas not normally assigned when necessary.

· Works in a well-lighted ventilated indoor setting.

MANAGEMENT OR SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Supervise the assignments and work of CNAs in the assigned unit during the shift worked.

TOTAL NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES UNDER THIS POSITION: 3 – 7 (indirectly)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.35 per hour
