The Novelis North America (NNA) team is seeking a Logistics Manager, Rail. Reporting to Senior Manager, Supply Chain Strategic Projects, this person is accountable to execute the regional rail operations strategy, including the successful launch of 2 greenfield facilities’ infrastructure and rail car operations, as well as the mode conversion of a portion of Novelis’ current transportation network. This role will be key for the NNA transportation network to meet spend, service, and sustainability goals and will support the transformation roadmap for FY27.
The incumbent develops and performs plans for operational readiness and long-term rail performance management and delivers processes, procedures, and metrics to ensure the successful launch and ongoing operations of rail transportation across the NNA network. Responsibilities & Qualifications:

The Novelis North America (NNA) team is seeking a Logistics Manager, Rail. Reporting to Senior Manager, Supply Chain Strategic Projects, this person is accountable to execute the regional rail operations strategy, including the successful launch of 2 greenfield facilities’ infrastructure and rail car operations, as well as the mode conversion of a portion of Novelis’ current transportation network. This role will be key for the NNA transportation network to meet spend, service, and sustainability goals and will support the transformation roadmap for FY27.
The incumbent develops and performs plans for operational readiness and long-term rail performance management and delivers processes, procedures, and metrics to ensure the successful launch and ongoing operations of rail transportation across the NNA network.
Responsibilities
- Drive safety performance across the Rail network and develop a strong Safety Culture across all service providers. Facilitate standard process sharing and common safety goals for all facilities and collaborators in the Rail network
- Implement the NNA strategy for Rail at 2 greenfield sites in Guthrie, KY and Bay Minette, AL. This includes validating infrastructure and equipment needs based on expected volumes, developing detailed operational plans for rail car flow at each facility and collaborating with rail roads, Novelis engineering and others to ensure a successful ramp up.
- Support the strategy roll-out for rail mode change within the existing NNA transportation network. This includes developing detailed workstream plans, completing each activity, providing monitoring and tracking of progress and reporting and advancing status and concerns to regional leadership
- Build positive relationships with internal and external network collaborators
- Build standard operating procedures, job aids and training plans to support facility operations and shipping/receiving personnel
- Develop evaluation methods and critical metrics to supervise rail network operations (internal and external), including supplier scorecard to provide performance management support and drive accountability with rail service providers. Develop PowerBI operational dashboards requirements and use cases.
- Ensure systems are efficiently set up and configured to support rail shipments tendering, tracking and reporting. This includes working across TMS (Blue Yonder), FourKites and SAP
- Work efficiently across functions, e.g., operations, supply chain, finance, QCI, etc., to drive adoption of new rail processes and integrate standard methodologies across facilities
- Apply professional project management skills and regularly present status updates to regional/global leadership
Qualifications
- 10 Years of Rail operations experience, ideally with an industrial shipper
- Bachelor’s Degree in areas of Supply Chain, Logistics or similar subject area
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus
- TMS experience Preferred (BlueYonder Preferred)
- Green Belt certification Preferred
- Strong Leadership, Interpersonal, and Communication skills
- Strong quantitative and data analysis skills (PowerBI experience Preferred)
- Proficient in project/program management
- Highly effective communications in all levels of the organization
- Able to influence and succeed in a Team environment
