This position requires a very careful adherence to well-defined work where repeatable results are needed. The work is highly precise in nature and requires a very strong attention to detail. It is vital for the work output to be very high quality, with correct results, time and time again. Checking and double-checking is often necessary; individuals performing the job must be patient and conscientious. Both the content and the presentation are important; all work must be highly polished. Much of the work can be accomplished by working at a steady, even pace. There is much consistency and familiarity from one day to the next. It is generally feasible to plan large blocks of work ahead of time. When work duties do change, there is ample foresight and time to prepare.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with clients and attorneys to defend clients in a variety of securities arbitration, regulatory defense, litigation and general corporate matters.

Compensation:

$100,000 - $125,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate:


  • Will be responsible for the collection and organization of documents and information from various arbitration and securities matters at the firm. This candidate should feel comfortable relaying messages between various groups and keeping all documents important to the cases they are working on organized.
  • Will assist attorneys in responding to SEC and state securities regulatory agency exams, investigations and Enforcement matters
  • Is comfortable with arbitrations conducted before FINRA, AAA and JAMS
  • Will assist attorneys with expungement matters

Responsibilities


  • Create and maintain case files
  • Facilitate the meeting of attorney's deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders
  • Conduct thorough legal research about laws and judicial and jurisdictional decisions
  • Draft documents by customizing standard forms
  • Prepare contracts by customizing standard forms
  • Write reports and legal documents
  • Help attorneys prepare cases for hearings
  • Assist lawyers in the hearing
  • Communicate with clients with updates and gather information
  • Drafting motions and other court documents
  • Prepare discovery and responses to discover demands

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a paralegal in a securities law firm. Experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant is especially pertinent, and candidates with this background will be given preference.
  • At least 7 years of heavy litigation experience
  • Bachelor's degree or a Paralegal certificate
