Major Duties
Classification: Non-Exempt, Bargaining
Repairs and maintains outside plant telecommunications facilities; installs poles, cable, wire, anchors, guys, cabinets, pedestals, and cross boxes.
Performs job duties consistent within safety, legal and regulatory requirements; company standards, culture and business practices.
Responsibilities
- Makes job safety a primary objective in all duties by working safely and adhering to all Safety practices.
- Repairs, installs, and maintains outside plant facilities including telephone poles, underground services, conduit, cable splicing and inspecting jobs upon completion.
- Lifts and loads equipment and materials onto company vehicles.
- Assures dependable and uninterrupted operation of telephone communications.
- Performs preventative and routine maintenance on plant assets and company vehicles.
- Troubleshoots and identifies malfunctioning or inoperative equipment and repairs as necessary.
- Reads and follow prints on the worksites.
- Performs and calls in UG locates for our company and other customers.
Qualifications
A Lineworker must acquire and maintain a valid Commercial Drivers License (Class A; trailer & air brakes, plus OSHA required certifications (i.e. Pole Climbing) and have a satisfactory driving record.
Tests - Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.
Telecommunications fundamentals and outside plant construction techniques are a plus, and are required subsequent to on-the-job training.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. as an entry level position, no experience is required, but prior experience is preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Travel is required locally on a frequent basis.
The noise level in the work environment is sometimes noisy.
The incumbent is often required to do heavy lifting, work in outdoor weather conditions, work at heights, and work with power tools.
