PURPOSE:
To clean and sanitize all process line areas as assigned to meet Good Manufacturing Practices and following all Hazardous Communication and Chemical Safety regulations, rules and policies while maintaining the health and safety of oneself and others.
SUMMARY:
Clean and sanitize Single Pass trim line belt area, evap dryer area, LM packaging, LM dryer, puff area, dump room and atlas areas utilizing brooms, squeegees, shovels, buckets, tubs, chemicals, brushes, scrub pads, scrapers and other cleaning tools to maintain a clean and presentable plant and help ensure a high quality product. To follow all applicable safety rules, regulations and policies such as Hazardous Communication and Chemical Safety standards while maintaining the health and safety of oneself and others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices. Regular and predictable attendance is essential to this role.
It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action.

  • Utilize Cleaning Tools:
  • Sweep and squeegee debris from floor
  • Place waste in tub and dump waste in Waste Hopper
  • Utilize scrub pads, brushes, scrapers, hoses to perform physical cleaning
  • Operate waste room dumper safely
  • Properly store all tools, buckets, etc., in designated areas when finished
  • Maintain all tools and equipment to meet GMPs
  • Ensure hoses are coiled and properly hung
  • Communicate Effectively:
  • Receive instructions from Supervisors
  • Assist co-workers as needed
  • Inform Supervisor and Operators of any needs/concerns
  • Assist in training general sanitation co-workers.
  • Respond to any GMP and/or safety violations by others via reporting to supervision any and all violations
  • Complete daily line sanitation sign-off
  • Special Projects and Duties:
  • Perform sanitation on all plant locations
  • Record weight of waste bins as required
  • Relieve other line employees for breaks and lunches as directed by supervision
  • Perform Downtime Clean Up Procedures:
  • Operate equipment as needed to perform cleaning
  • Utilize chemicals safely
  • Perform physical scrubbing/cleaning as required
  • Assist Operators to reassemble equipment
  • Utilize Ladder Safety procedures when using ladders
  • Turn off water hose when not in use
  • Utilize Sanitation Chemicals Safely and Efficiently:
  • Understand and adhere to chemical manufacturer instructions per the MSDS
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment as outlined in the MSDS
  • Utilize chemicals in appropriate application
  • Know the location of all emergency eye wash/shower stations
  • Maintain the chemical storage area in an organized condition
  • General Sanitation of Line at End of Production Run:
  • Understand and adhere to plant lockout/tagout policy
  • Prepare area for clean up
  • Clean assigned area thoroughly according to guidelines
  • Execute efficient "top-down" sanitation procedures
  • Sanitize all equipment/food contact surfaces as required
  • Work independently
  • Clean & sanitize floors
  • General Housekeeping and Sanitation During Production:
  • Discard non-reworkable product from spillage points and place appropriate sanitary catch pans to save product
  • Observe area to assist in smooth flow of area/machinery
  • Maintain conveyor belts free from product build up
  • Remove and designate reworkable product from sanitary catch pans
  • Understand and uphold current GMP's
  • Clear obstruction from drainage gutters
  • Keep work area in neat, orderly, and safe condition - clean floors
  • Assist others as needed
  • Place squeegees/tools in proper places
  • Clean any slippery areas with water/chemicals as needed
  • Use chemicals appropriately – safely in accordance to MSDS/SDS
  • Notify Supervisor/Technician/Mechanic when machinery malfunctions occur
  • Wear protective gear and replace when damaged
  • Remove all unused chemicals from work area and place in appropriate area/waste pit
  • Follow Company Color Code Standards
  • Use gray bins for waste
  • Use designated containers for chemical use: White or Stainless Steel – Edible Food Containers – Final Consumer Products
  • Blue – Food Grade Products
  • Green – Metal Detector Rejects
  • Yellow – Sanitation – Product contract surface brushes, chemical buckets
  • Red – Waster, garbage. Floor scrubber, brooms
  • Follow Haz-Com and Chemical Safety Procedures
  • Review MSDS/SDS prior to using any chemical for proper handling procedures
  • Properly label all containers and use Chemical Safety Standards when transporting chemicals per the MSDS/SDS
  • Ensure understanding of chemical mixing procedures as outlined in the MSDS/SDS
  • Know the name, type and first aid procedures for any chemical used
  • Ensure the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Employee may be directed to perform other duties as assigned and directed by his/her supervisors.
  • Industrial and Food Safety
  • Follow proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures/standards
  • Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedure/standards
  • Follow HPLV procedures
  • Wear required and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times
  • Identify and address all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts – Report to supervisor on shift
  • Follow all other applicable safety rules and regulations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year position-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read, write, and speak and understand in English, in order to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
