Location: BETSY JOHNSON HOSPITAL, DUNN, NC
Position Summary:
Provides physical therapy services defined in treatment plans, under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Assists with rehabilitative activities to help reduce pain, improve mobility, and improve function. Assists in wound care, exercise instruction and demonstration, and use of therapy equipment. Teaches patients of all ages and family’s specific activities, skills, techniques, and exercises that are designed to maximize the patient’s functional independence in activities of daily living. Records patients’ activities and progress in daily treatment notes. Maintains adequate materials, records, and quality controls in accordance with hospital standards. Supervises PTA students and aides within hospital, practice act, and insurance guidelines. Maintains competence and continuing education in accordance with the NCPTBE guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Physical therapist assistant experience preferred. Good knowledge of acceptable medical terminology and related physical therapy equipment and devices. Good interpersonal communication skills. Good patient care skills. Excellent documentation skills required. Ability to work with hostile and emotionally upset people while maintaining emotional stability. Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or department conditions.
Required Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

• Associate's Degree Physical Therapist Assistant

• Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant

• Basic Life Support Required

Other Information:
Must be able to communicate orally, read, write, hear, and visually assess patient status. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics when examining or delivering care. Must be able to transfer and transport patients of various body weight and composition. Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, lift, turn, twist, sit, and walk frequently. Must be able to demonstrate proper use of equipment. Must be able to manipulate equipment.
