Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Child Safety and Permanency Division efforts to improve safety, permanency, and wellbeing outcomes for children involved in public child welfare in Minnesota. The uniqueness of this position is the focus on state and federal law and policy that governs our work. The person in this position will provide external guidance and technical assistance within the continuum of child welfare services ranging from child maltreatment screening decisions to finalization of permanency. This position provides support in the completion of state legislative and federal reviews of child welfare practice in Minnesota. The person in this position will also serve as the legislative lead representing the division in the development and representation of division legislative proposals.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of professional experience in public child welfare or child protection services.
Experience must demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge of federal/state law, regulations, policies relating to public child welfare
- Experience in analyzing child welfare laws and providing policy and legal interpretations
- Experience with the legislative processes
- Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate complex legal terms to individuals with-out a legal background
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degreed or graduating from an American Bar Association
- Experience consulting and convening key stakeholder regarding potential policy and legislative proposals
- Experience with administrative simplifications that promote better government
Additional Requirements
- Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
