Position Summary
The Department of English at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a non-tenure track lecturer in nonfiction Creative Writing that will begin August 10, 2023. The initial appointment will be issued for a two-year period, with subsequent renewal contingent on a successful performance review, department/program needs, and availability of funds.
We seek an individual with expertise in teaching courses in modes of nonfiction writing: e.g., journalism, creative nonfiction, technical writing. Course levels will range from introductory to intermediate and special topics levels, that can add to our growing Creative Writing minor. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a 3-3 teaching load; the position involves some expectation of service—e.g., serving on our Patrick Hayes Writers Series and/or student literary awards committees. Salary competitive; modest relocation funds available.

Required Qualifications
A Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing; M.A., in Journalism or Technical Writing; or Ph.D., in English, Creative Writing, or Rhetoric-Composition is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience, skills in teaching multimodal communication and/or new forms in creative nonfiction, and some record of publication.
