The Excel Center for Adults, founded in 2014, is the first free public charter high school in Texas that provides adults ages 18-50 the opportunity to earn their high school diploma, complete an in-demand professional certification, and begin post-secondary education. The Excel Center offers programming that is specific to the adult learner experience such as accelerated academics and flexible scheduling, special programs, and resources, and supportive services to help students remove barriers they may encounter during their educational journey. Currently, The Excel center has three Austin-area campuses that serve both day and evening students in addition to four Justice Education campuses, located in Lockhart, Henderson, Overton, and Diboll, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reports to the principal. Responsible for facilitating programming (e.g., Cognitive Intervention Program). Duties
include planning, coordinating, and implementing programming and treatment-related activities; and coordinating
with other departments to ensure the maximum utilization for resources available in compliance with The Excel Center and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides facilitation of education programs according to designated curricula within the program. Provides
support to programming by facilitating classes and support teaching staff in order to assist incarcerated
individuals with recidivism reduction efforts through improved academic and career readiness.
2. Guides and assists clients in engaging in prosocial behaviors through the improvement of academic and
career skills by incorporating key behavior management techniques.
3. Promotes reentry readiness by equipping students with academic and career readiness skills. Assists
students in reentry planning, and life skills applications including resumes, cover letters, interview skills,
applications, healthy work behaviors and problem solving.
4. Provides supervision of computer assisted learning. Maintain accountability for computer lab/e-learning
equipment.
5. Works to engage clients, education and community partners in a client-centered approach to reentry
planning activities with an emphasis on college planning and job acquisition.
6. Monitors individual behaviors. promotes the development of positive social skills through modeling
appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback
to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
7. Maintains accountability of staff, clients and property; adhere to safety practices.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by
management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent or GED
2. Associate degree or two years’ experience working with marginalized populations in an educational setting.
3. Valid Driver’s License, up to date auto insurance and good driving record.
4. Must be able to understand work instructions in English.
5. Must have a framework for understanding socioemotional, behavioral, and educational trends related to providing key student supports in an adult-academic setting.
6. Knowledge of community resources.
7. Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills.
8. Must be self-motivated willing to be a team player.
9. Must be adaptable to shifting priorities while maintaining a positive learning environment.
10. Strong socioemotional and behavioral intervention skills.
11. Must have the ability to embrace change positively and manage their workload independently.
12. Ability to gather and analyze data for informed decision making.
13. Ability to develop relationships and to relate to a diverse population.
14. Must possess the essential mindset that all students can achieve at high levels.
15. Must possess understanding of marginalization and how it impacts those Goodwill serves and employs.
16. Exhibit respect for diversity of thought and have experience to advance it in teams/organization.
17. Must demonstrate a maturity of practice using the 7 pillars and principles of servant leadership.
18. Must be able to successfully pass a background check and complete fingerprinting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of an Associate’s degree in a healing field, such as psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, criminal justice
2. Related experience.
