Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Learning Experience Designer within the UCLA Simulation Center is to design, develop and deliver engaging e-learning, virtual reality and other simulation training materials and courses utilizing a variety of multimedia, educational modalities and authoring platforms. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Sim Center team as well as clinical faculty and students, to gauge training needs, create scripts for training scenarios, produce video tutorials and online modules, and assess their effectiveness and measure learning outcomes.

As our Learning Experience Designer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the curricula and training materials for all supported applications:

  • building, testing, and maintaining the training environment; managing updates to policy and procedure documentation related to training
  • maintaining standards and templates for creating online modules
  • integrating with LMS (Gryphon, Cornerstone) and Sim Center website
  • conducting training for learners; coordinating software upgrade and updates
  • collecting course feedback and adjusting training materials to continuously adapt to the needs of the learners
  • and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and instructional design tools.

In this role, you will also collaborate with faculty to support scholarly innovations and work on relevant UCLA campus XR initiatives and UC cross-campus efforts. You will be an integral member and representative of the UCLA Simulation Center serving the educational programs at DGSOM, UCLA Health and partner health sciences schools.

Salary range: $61400.00-$121400.00 Annual

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design and technology or a related discipline strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in adult education, instructional design, blended learning, and learning management systems
  • Background in teaching, tutoring, or performance theater
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in Higher Education or Healthcare
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel to conduct training sessions at conferences and work occasional evenings and/or weekends when necessary to meet project deadlines or facilitate courses
  • Motivation to pursue additional credentials or courses as needed to ensure skillset is up-to-date with the latest trends in adult education and instructional technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to work independently and with a team
  • Preference given to experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360 Storyline)
  • Preference given to experience with simulation and virtual reality applications
