The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and patient Learn & Play Associate, whose greatest passion is to see kids learn and grow, to join our Learn & Play team. Each day, our Learn & Play Associates have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children, creating joy in each child's life by teaching through play and hands-on activities.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Learn & Play Associate will give leadership, direction, and supervision to children and participants in youth programs. You play a key role in ensuring that program participants have a safe, supportive, positive, interactive and enriching program experience that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing programmed activities.
We are currently looking to fill positions at our Briargate and First & Main locations
SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:
LEARN & PLAY ASSOCIATES REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum age of 16 years
- Experience with children leading recreational activities preferred
LEARN & PLAY ASSOCIATES RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help prepare, plan and implement a weekly curriculum
- Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities.
- Provide discipline for participants that are age appropriate and maintains respect for the child.
- Possess a working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and be able to exercise sound judgment.
- Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and children.
- Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents.
- Supervise locker rooms and swim with children.
- Complete routine and required forms to include, but not limited to: attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports.
- Prepare snack or meals as assigned.
- May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings, extended program hours, PEAK, or association events.

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION:
Support the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:
- Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
- Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
- Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
- Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
