Job Summary: Principal responsibilities include operating laundry equipment to provide the property with an efficient laundry service. Do monthly inventory on linen and towels. Maintain the laundry area and other special projects or tasks assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor or Executive Housekeeper.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Responsible for sorting soiled linen by styles.

2. Operate washers and dryers by established methods.

3. Place linen and towels in washer and transfer to dryer when linen is washed.

4. Ensure proper folding of flat work and terry by established methods.

5. Responsible for proper and neat storage of linen.

6. Sort out damaged linen and towels. Ensure all stained and torn linens are withdrawn from circulation and set aside for treatment.

7. Sew and hem any item that needs to be repaired.

8. Recycle damaged linen and towels for rags.

9. Keep dryer lint traps and laundry drain clean at all times.

10. Maintain Laundry Room so that it is neat and clean.

11. Log the data of amount of wash per day.

12. Check laundry chemical levels before operating laundry machines.

13. Exchange chemicals for washers.

14. Report to Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisor when supplies are diminishing for reorders.

15. Assist in packing supply bags for the unit cleaners, if needed.

16. Take linen inventory at the end of each month, reports due by the 5th of each month.

17. Sweep and mop laundry floor every day, remove all trash.

18. Perform all other duties as requested by Supervisors.

Job Knowledge and Qualifications: Must have organizational, oral and written communication skills as well as public relations skills. Ability to follow and read instructions effectively; ability to operate laundry equipment efficiently. Good (corrective) vision and hearing necessary. Job requires reading, writing, walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, eye/hand/foot coordination, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds. Previous experience in housekeeping is preferred. Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
