JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with the current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Supervisor, to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner, and that an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents. As Laundry Aide, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsible, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Collect, sort and weight soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas.

2. Sort soiled laundry, linen, and garments and separate the items that require special stain removal treatment.

3. Sort, count and wash soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. in accordance with established guidelines.

4. Press and iron garments as instructed.

5. Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. to residents.

6. Clean floor, walls and ceilings of the laundry room, including sweeping, dusting and mopping.

7. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.

8. Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants and solutions used in the work area.

9. Ensure that an adequate supply of laundry/linen is maintained in designated closets to meet the daily needs of the residents.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

} Knowledge of proper cleaning and care for garments and linens.

} Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

} Ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition

} Ability not to pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the work place.

} Skill in the use of the sight/hearing senses or use of prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.

} Ability to meet the general health requirements set forth by the guidelines of the facility, which include a medical and physical examination.

} Ability to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of three feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of three feet

It is highly likely that while performing the essential functions of this position you will be exposed to blood or body fluids.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $11.15 - $12.00 per hour
