JOB SUMMARY
The Large GET Specialist provides customer sales and support to meet established department goals as well as support the strategic direction of DSS for draglines and shovels. The major focus of this position is both strategic and tactical working with the Caterpillar, Raptor, assigned TSR’s, DSS managers and customers for creativity in key process development and change as well as accomplishing results and reaching goals. This position is an outside technical sales person.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrate leadership, integrity, teamwork, quality and urgency in the performance of one’s functions and responsibilities to ensure the goals of customer satisfaction, market dominance and profitability are achieved.
- Bucket/Dipper for Dragline and Shovels Heat Map must be documented in the Caterpillar Wear Management System(CWMS) and updated within 6 months of hiring date in designated DSS South Territory on Cat & Competitive Machines as measured in “Bucket Pro”.
- Leverage Caterpillar Prepaid Services from Raptor including completing GET site assessments and GET Conversions with:
o Assistance developing an opportunity for the dealer to quote
o Assistance winning the conversion
o Assistance sustaining the conversion for 1 year following conversion
- Provide direction to DSS in Texas with responsibility for large mining GET and wire rope.
- Provide GET technical oversight for various field and shop projects by supplying necessary technical information including drawings, technical specification, service advisories, etc.
- Conduct regular mine site calls on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis and track in sales link.
- Manage Caterpillar GET and inventory at a customer site, if required.
- Review customers’ needs and wants monthly with the Region Wear Products ASC / ASR & Supervisor.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for aftermarket GET and wire rope parts forecasting.
- Support the Continuous Improvement Process, making sure new ideas are generated, worked and implemented, and any roadblocks are eliminated with the help of the team.
- Initiate and conduct process improvement dialogues with Supervisors, Team Leads and Team Members.
- Drive root cause analysis and resolution on all forms of loss, i.e., safety, quality, production.
- Adhere to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY
- Experience in the GET space with ESCO/Columbia Steel/Hensley/Raptor/etc.
- College degree or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent human relations skills to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
- Advanced skills in program management, strategic planning, business planning and customer relations.
- Knowledge of the technical components of mining equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged walking, sitting and standing
- The GET Specialist must travel to job sites with some overnight travel.
- Expected to spend two weeks per month with customers in outlying states including Florida.
- Emergency calls are responded to and may require after hour support.
- Expected to work 50 hours per week.
- Use of hands for fine motor skills.
- Use of all necessary personal protective equipment
- Operate company vehicle requiring a valid drivers’ license (driving record must meet company insurance standards and is reviewed annually).
