Laboratory Technicians Level I and Level II:

Compass Dermatopathology, the nationally recognized leader in the accurate diagnosis of skin diseases founded by acclaimed dermatologist and dermatopathologist Antoanella Calame, M.D., is seeking candidates for two open positions: Laboratory Technician I and Laboratory Technician II.

As a laboratory Technician at Compass you will learn the essential first steps in the process that ultimately allows Dr. Calame and Laboratory Director Christof Erickson, M.D. to provide the intense level of microscopic diagnosis services demanded by some of the country’s most respected dermatologists. While your work will be at the beginner’s level, the tutelage of your lab manager and Drs. Calame and Erickson will add as much or more to your future Resume than any other type of advanced training you might ultimately pursue.

Job Responsibilities:

Under the close supervision of your Lab Manger and senior technicians, you will gain hands-on experience in identifying, sorting and restocking reagents and other consumables; maintaining and cleaning sophisticated laboratory equipment; monitoring temperature controls and preparing logs; preparing various solutions; and sorting and delivering pathology slides to the dermatopathologists.

Job Requirements for either position:

• A strong demonstrated work ethic and enthusiastic attitude.
• A willingness to learn.
• The ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• A High School Diploma or higher certificate.
• Previous histology experience is a plus (but not required).
• All applicants must agree to submit to a background check.

In addition to the above, the Requirements for Laboratory Technician II include:

• The ability to learn routine histology techniques that include embedding and cutting tissue samples.
• B.S. Degree (in Biology or Chemistry preferred) or extensive histology experience.

• Compensation will be industry competitive, graded by the mix of experience and skills referenced above.
