HJF is seeking a
Laboratory Technician I to perform laboratory procedures to assist supervisors with sample processing and storage. Provides support in various areas of a laboratory as needed. Complies with laboratory quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) plans and procedures.
This position will be in support of the Center for Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine (CNRM), specifically the Biomarkers Core. CNRM was established as a collaborative intramural federal program involving the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Institutes of Health, developed to bring together the expertise of clinicians and scientists across disciplines to catalyze innovative approaches to traumatic brain injury (TBI) research. The Biomarkers Core consists of a Biorepository and Bioanalysis team, which supports CNRM and externally funded collaborative studies in the processing and storage of samples and biomarker analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Receives and logs in daily shipments, stores appropriately, and notifies pertinent personnel. Ensures adequate inventory/supplies for laboratory use.
- Maintains laboratory equipment and performs general procedures such as monitoring, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
- Assembles blood kits, inventoried and placed samples into the biorepository, and coordinated with sites.
- Documents testing results and records observations in accordance with good practice quality guidelines and regulations (GxP), standard operating procedures, and protocol requirements.
- Assists with data organization and entry.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and skill in blood and other bio-fluid processing techniques and handling biological hazards and their safe use and disposal.
- Well-organized; able to handle multiple tasks with a collaborative mindset
Physical Capabilities:
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to pull and lift heavy objects.
- Operating laboratory equipment.

- This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.
Education and Experience
- Associate's Degree
- A minimum of 0-2 years experience required
