Job Requirements:
- Ability to work independently on a given assignment
- Strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools and equipment used for maintaining an industrial facility.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on professionalism
- Proficient computer skills, including use of all Microsoft Office products.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering projects, such as safety improvements, equipment upgrades and installations, or process improvements.
- Utilize engineering principles to develop and implement solutions to reoccurring maintenance issues.
- Recommend or develop new test methods (i.e. search for existing test methods or create a new Lydall Test Method).Coordinate implementation of new test methods.
- Monitors Lab testing activities for quality and efficiency.
- Perform/schedule equipment maintenance and calibration planning.
- Assists with departmental purchasing and reconciliations as needed.
- Recommend purchase of new laboratory equipment and help develop new equipment justifications for annual capital plan (budget).
- Review material technical data generated by internal or external facilities.
- Prepare test reports to document methods, results and conclusions.
- Create technical reports, as needed.When necessary, work with Product Development group to draw conclusions based on test method, material properties, etc.
- Review and be knowledgeable of all applicable sections of ISO 17025, “General Requirements for the Competence of Testing & Calibration Laboratories” and any laboratory-specific quality and technical procedures, including all applicable test methods (e.g. from ASTM, SAE, Ford, GM).
- Trains others on equipment use and lab safety practices (as and when required).
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
Qualifications/ Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
- One to three years’ experience working in equipment maintenance or laboratory environment
