Job description

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has an opening for a Labor Relations Manager. The Labor Relations Manager manages all activities related to Labor Relations function, including contract management, collective bargaining, grievance proceedings and policy formulation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Formulates and recommends labor relations policies, objectives and courses of action.

2. Assists with all collective bargaining agreements on behalf of the Authority. Works with departments to ensure compliance with the Public Employees Relations Act and the Public Employee Relations Commission.

3. Investigates problems incidental to sound and uniform personnel administration such as working conditions, disciplinary actions, grievances and appeals. Provides senior management with guidance and recommendations for problem resolutions.

4. Formulates and coordinates the Authority's position in legal proceedings, hearings and charges related to labor relations' practices.

5. Chairs regular Labor/Management meetings in an effort to improve labor relations between management and the bargaining units.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree, with a preference in labor/industrial relations.

2. Five years in labor relations; preferably in the public sector. Three of the five years must have been in a supervisory position or an equivalent combination of related training and or experience.

3. Specialized training in labor relations preferred.

4. Ability to mediate diverse views and opinions.

5. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

6. Knowledge and understanding of the Public Employee Relations Act, applicable state and federal statutes and the function of the Public Employee Relations Commission.

7. Valid NJ Driver’s License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $67,000.00 per year
