Pay Range
$130,200.00-$178,950.00 Annual
This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
Johns Manville is currently seeking a Labor Relations Leader to join our corporate team. This person could be located anywhere close to a major airport and near one of our larger operations including Denver, CO, Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA, or Toledo, OH/Detroit, MI.
The ideal candidate would be responsible for developing and implementing labor relations strategies which create and maintain an environment that delivers desired business results, increases employee engagement, and creates competitive advantage for JM.
This position provides broad leadership and advises senior business leaders on all matters related to labor relations across all businesses in North America. This position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and works directly with Business Unit Leaders, Plant Leadership, Legal Counsel, Human Resources Leaders, and Union Leadership.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Lead contract negotiation prep at each facility
- Educate and develop HR and Operations leaders in areas of labor relations and
- Monitor and assess union vulnerability at non-union locations
- Develop labor and positive employee relations strategy for the organization
- Chief spokesperson for all collective bargaining
- Develop and manage relationships with union representatives
- Lead company response to any organizing campaign
- Drive productivity through modeling of labor cost, work and pay rules
- Work with businesses and HR functions and provide support and advice for initiatives for union and non-union facilities
- Provide counsel and advice on arbitrations including decision to arbitrate, arbitrator selection and as needed represent company at arbitration(s)
- Continue to optimize and incorporate contemporary practices.
- Provide counsel and advice on all non-union economic packages.
- Maintain historical records and documentation
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum of a Bachelors Degree, Masters or JD preferred
- 10+ years of labor relations and HR management experience (in manufacturing preferred)
- Expert labor relations knowledge
- Solid labor and employment law
- Expert analytical skills
- Expert communication and collaboration skills
- Solid ability to plan, organize and set direction
- Expert policy/contract administration and interpretation skills
- Solid arbitration skills
- Expert contract negotiation skills
- Solid business and financial acumen
- Willing to travel 40% or more
- Expert ability in developing contract negotiation proposals and parameters
