Lab Technician/Clinical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant

Come be a part of an amazing team of healthcare workers! Coastal Pediatric Associates is hiring a Lab Technician that assists the clinic staff in the execution of excellent patient care in addition to performing waived and moderate complexity tests in the clinical laboratory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (includes but is not limited to):
- Perform routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease using standard techniques and equipment
- Perform related duties in laboratory to include storing and labeling specimens and using manual and automatic equipment to prepare specimen and perform analytical tests
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Course work in health care preferred
- Prior medical practice experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling preferred
- Working knowledge of computer applications
- Prior experience with EMR preferred
- Ability to speak, read and write effectively
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines, in a detail-oriented manner
- Ability to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Willingness to work in Mount Pleasant, West Ashley, James Island, and Summerville offices as needed
- Experience involving patient contact, customer service in a medical setting, strong communication skills including both verbal and written skills
- Basic knowledge of Medical terminology
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safely and infection control procedure and practice including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Must have good visual acuity and ability to verbally communicate. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The ability to lift, lower, push, pull and retrieve objects weighing a minimum 5 lbs. frequently.
Work Environment:
- Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure.
- Exposure or potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids may be required.
- May at times work under stressful situations.
