Areas of Focus
  • Oversee the electrical, mechanical, and life testing of lead acid batteries
  • Supervision of ~ (7) Test Technicians/Test Engineers
  • Ensure compliance of all Work Instructions, Job Safety Analyses, Safety Observations, and Calibration Systems
  • Track and report KPI’s of critical laboratory tests and outputs and facility EHS goals
  • Conduct failure mode analysis for both internally tested batteries and returned batteries from the field
  • Review and approve test reports for distribution to cross-functional employees and customers

Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper level of staffing, training, and resource coordination to effectively address daily routine laboratory activities and timely execution of testing to meet agreed milestones and deadlines.
  • Analyze test data and communicate test related information directly with engineering and appropriate end users as needed
  • Overall management of engineering lab personnel, equipment, and facility to provide safe, secure, and clean work environment for testing operations
  • Ensure testing operations are completed in accordance with corporate and regulatory policies
  • Review test methods required by standards and develop procedures as needed to provide repeatable test practices
  • Manage multiple testing projects simultaneously, develop test protocols, and write formal test reports
  • Work with internal and external personnel to maintain test equipment, data handling, data traceability, and lab infrastructure
  • Enhance lab testing and characterization capabilities to meet existing and future standards.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party testing organizations to arrange and oversee tests that cannot be facilitated internally
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
  • BS in related physical science or engineering program.
  • 5+ years’ technical experience; lab experience preferred.
  • 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills.
  • High competency with MS Office applications.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques, including basic statistical methods.
