Position Summary

The Lab billing processor is responsible for pulling the billing file from Orchard and posting into IDX. They also work all the lab billing scrubs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

· Works a billing file that has "pending charges” to be reviewed for referring doctors, ordering doctors with corrections made to each charge that’s generated through Orchard before charges are released into our IDX system.

· Reviewing all PA/NP charges that come through this file and assign appropriate MD to charges. Reviews the office charges in IDX, lab requisitions and office notes in Allscripts to assign the correct physician to each charge.

· Reviews all Reference lab charges in Orchard in order to assign the referring doctor to each charge.

· Reviews Laboratory tests done at PMC, SMG and Labcorp locations for billing, bundling, NCD/LCD coverage guidelines, ect.

· Works a scrub queue with a multitude of accounts and charges to correct bundling guidelines, NCD/LCD coverage policies, tasking physicians, as well as working denials from Insurance companies.

· Assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT codes to charges

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education (Including Licenses and Certifications): High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Prior healthcare billing experience preferred.
