ProPath is a nationwide, physician-led, established, and successful anatomic and clinical pathology group and member of Sonic Healthcare USA. We are seeking an exceptional Lab Assistant III to join our thriving practice at Medical City McKinney. The ProPath practice alone has over 50 physicians and nearly 550 team members while Sonic Healthcare USA has over 300 physicians and nearly 8,000 team members. This is the largest physician-led pathology practice in the country.
Lab Assistant III prepares patient samples for clinical testing and data entry of patient demographics into the database in a precise and accurate fashion.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

• Is proficient at all duties of a Laboratory Assistant II including:
• Accurately enter clinical data/information into the computer system (i.e. order entry, patient demographics, and/or results). Identify any missing or invalid data entry information and take the appropriate action to correct.
• Perform technical and non-technical procedures required to process and submit patient specimens for analysis.
• Operate automated and semi-automated equipment according to standard operating procedures.
• Effectively communicate deficiencies to appropriate personnel, including deficiencies related to specimens, paperwork, database information, and equipment.
• Accurately document information as required, including processing logs, quality control, and labeling of reagents.
• Troubleshoot instruments and resolve problems.
• Special projects such as evaluating/validating new equipment and or new regents.

• Perform advanced laboratory information system (LIS) activities (may include activities such as report corrections, adding/deleting tests and/or cases, etc.).
• Assists other departments with data entry and/or specimen processing as needed.
• Performs complex tasks and completes assignments with little or no assistance.
• Works under limited supervision with latitude for independent judgment.
• May mentor less-experienced peers and assist supervisors, but does not formally supervise others.
• Communicate effectively in a courteous, professional manner with all levels of management, co-workers, and clients to provide quality customer service.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, company, and department policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee, patient, client, and company information.
• Work effectively within a team-oriented department and company.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required—a high level of accuracy and speed when entering alpha and numeric data. Incumbent must be detail- and quality-oriented, and must have demonstrated proficiency in all duties of a Laboratory Assistant II.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of at least one year of experience as a Laboratory Assistant II is preferred.
