Job Summary

Provides general clerical support in a laboratory setting.

Essential Functions

Checks out materials, equipment, and other lab resources. Maintains usage records, equipment inventory, and monitors material returns.

Proctors placement test, monitors classes/lab activities, monitors final exams within the lab, provides new student orientation, assists students with registration, aids students with software installation.

Provides clerical assistance to faculty and staff assigned to laboratory or discipline. Performs typing, data entry, creates reports, answers phones, and greets visitors.

Maintains lab attendance records.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related experience.

2. Effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

3. Experience maintaining records.

4. Experience providing effective customer service skills.

5. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (word processing and spreadsheet software).

Special Conditions:

1. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures.


2. Job will require extended working hours including evenings and weekends.

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an agency certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or granting institution, if accredited by one of the regional accrediting body such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
