JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Promotes the mission and philosophy of NPHS by being helpful, courteous and positive with co-workers and clients of NPHS, refraining from gossip or mean comments regarding co-workers or clients of NPHS and by supporting management decisions, policies and projects.

2. Responsible for preparing breakfast and snacks (depending upon the center hours) and taking temperatures of catered lunch food and placing it into bowls for serving.

3. Responsible for preparing special needs meals as stated on menu.

4. Responsible daily for getting from staff the lunch count or cancellation slips and having them ready for the food service driver.

5. Collaborate with staff from each site to maintain the correct amount of emergency food, stock food items, and bulk food.

6. Operate the commercial dish sanitizer and food warmer.

7. Complete the duties listed on the Kitchen Cleaning Schedule and keep the kitchen clean at all times.

8. Complete the Kitchen Cleaning Schedule daily and submit it on time at the end of the month.

9. Responsible for cleaning the parent room.

10. Responsible for cleaning adult bathrooms and other center areas except the classroom as requested by Supervisor.

11. Attend any conferences/trainings as requested.

12. Act as a Bus Aide when needed.

13. Become familiar with and implement all sanitation requirements as per the Health Department guidelines, West Virginia Day Care Licensing, Head Start Performance Standards, and guidelines from West Virginia Department of Education, Office of Child Nutrition.

14. Assist in the classroom as directed by Supervisor.

15. Purchase groceries from store, when teacher assistant is absent or as assigned.

16. Complete a meal cancellation form for the food service driver two weeks in advance of the cancellation.

17. Post, monitor, and update children’s allergy forms, and check menus to assure the substitution for the allergy is listed.

18. Responsible for coordinating menu changes with each classroom.

19. Confidentiality – communicating day-to-day information to parents.

20. Interacts with staff and parents in a positive manner and communicates information to families under direction of supervisor.

21. Internal communication - Understands emergency procedures for the kitchen, classroom, and bus and implements them when needed.

22. Keeps all internal daily operations issues in confidence.

23. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or GED is required.

2. Current Food Handler’s Card.

3. Valid driver’s license, insurance, and dependable vehicle.

4. Ability to effectively read and write.

5. Ability to move quickly in emergency situations.

6. Ability to keep pace with children by moving quickly

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB/FREQUENCY:

1. Standing for extended periods/Daily.

2. Excessive bending and kneeling/Daily.

3. Lifting/Regularly.
