Overview:
The Kidder Creek Assistant Cook is a Ministerial Support position. Ministerial support staff serve in operational and service support roles and are not required to personally affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. However, it is expected that staff who fill these roles – no matter their personal beliefs - respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Additionally, they are required to abide by MHA’s culture code and standards of conduct. All staff are expected to join gatherings, which includes prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.
The Assistant Cook position is responsible for assisting the Cook at Ranch Camp or Timberline in all aspects of preparing meals for guests and staff at Kidder Creek (“KC”) in a safe manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

Position Objective:
The Assistant Cook position is responsible for assisting the Cook at Ranch Camp or Timberline in all aspects of preparing meals for guests and staff at Kidder Creek (“KC”) in a safe manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- Complete menu as provided and instructed by the Cook at Ranch Camp or Timberline.
- Pull, prepare, serve and store food in accordance with food handling procedures to ensure safe, nutritious meals for guest enjoyment and to prevent food spoilage and/or foodborne illness.
- Assist in instructing summer staff/students about prepping, serving, clean up, and dishwashing methods.
- Other duties as assigned by the Cook and/or the Food Service Coordinator.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
There are no direct supervisory responsibilities for this position.
Qualifications:
Education and Certifications:
- High School graduate preferred, but not required.
- Some college preferred, but not required.
- Food Handling Card will be required.
Work Experience:
- Food handling experience desirable but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be interested and passionate about cooking with a desire to learn more about cooking.- Willing to learn.
- Must be observant and attentive.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 35-50 pounds. This job may require lifting and carrying cases of canned goods, sacks of dry product, etc.- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Days off will be flexed to meet the demands of the kitchen, which may include working overtime occasionally.
- Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
- Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
- Must agree to and comply with MHA’s employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
- Flexibility in location: during times when assigned kitchen does not have meals to prepare, this person may be asked to work at one of the other kitchens or other areas of ministry.
- Housing not provided: OPTIONAL onsite housing includes an area to park a 5th wheel or trailer in the camp RV Park; 5th wheel or trailer might be available, but not guaranteed.
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
