Junior Project Manager - Fiber to the Home (FTTH)
Job description
Position Summary
Entry level role responsible for coordinating all functions of Horizon’s Fiber To The Premise (FTTP) market deployment lifecycle. Responsible for overall project timelines, reporting, and coordination of POP site acquisition, fiber construction, network installation, and other associated functions required to successfully launch a fiber-to-the-premises market on time and under budget.
Essential Job Functions
- Manages multiple groups internally and externally, directing the activity and ensuring the quality output of all functions.
- You will collaborate with OSP Design Engineers, OSP Inspectors, Construction Managers, Joint Use & Permitting Coordinators, vendors, and Horizon leadership to track and provide status updates to all team members as needed to keep the project timeline on track.
- Oversee and coordinate with team members to achieve maximum success and efficiency in delivery of engineering designs, related market data points, permitting approvals and construction completion.
- Identify and deploy necessary resources to accomplish work while managing the stability of the project and customer account.
- Review, understand, and explain multiple telecom deployment technologies (FTTH, FTTP, FTTN, etc.), telecom terminology, and the various telecom infrastructure environments (aerial, buried, underground, wireless).
- Communicate project and account status to senior management, customers, and other partners.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with all project stakeholders.
- Manage and track performance across schedule, budget, and quality parameters
- Track and report on project schedule, milestones and provide status reports on a weekly basis
- Pro-actively identify potential project risk factors, communicate these with our partners, and work with team members to address and resolve them.
- Facilitate regular or ad-hoc team meetings to discuss projects, challenges and determine project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors
- Complete understanding of project scope, capabilities, risk, and sourcing appropriate vendors that meet project requirements and state licensing requirements
- Manage contract terms, purchase orders, and change orders with the vendor partners
- Strong attention to quality construction practices and ensuring timely closeout and delivery of the project schedule.
Knowledge and Abilities
- 1+ years of Project Coordination / Project Management experience desired, not required
- PMP Certification desired, not required
- 6+ months of experience telecom design, delivery process, OSP fiber lifecycle, or equivalent experience in another type of construction project.
- Working knowledge of OSP fiber-optic construction is a plus
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Flexibility for travel up to 10% may be required.
- You must have a clean driving record and have reliable transportation
