Your Role & Responsibilities:
- The International Exchange Center (IEC) is designated by the U.S. Department of State to sponsor trainees and interns on J-1 visas.
- The IEC assumes several duties and responsibilities in the process as a support system and resource and is committed to the success of every intern and training program.
- IEC serves to create educational resources and opportunities that recognize our immigrant heritage.
- This position will serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer for the Exchange Program.
- The IEC Program Manager is responsible for being the J-visa program expert for clients, potential clients, and the Council; building relationships with businesses, government agencies, and other organizations to foster strategic partnerships; and ensuring fulfillment of regulatory compliance.
- This position will perform functions outlined below in addition to other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions/Compliance:
- Serve as Alternate Responsible Officer for the IEC Exchange Visitor Program.
- Ensure that the exchange program is in full compliance with federal regulations governing J-1 programs, including all evaluation requirements.
- Ensure that all requirements of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) are met.
- Communicate with government agencies, including but not limited to reviewing, submitting related information upon request, and assisting the department director with the annual reporting on the J-1 program.
- Provide training and support to users on the various databases.
- Oversee collection and management of data necessary for regulatory reporting.
- Client Relations and Communications.
- Provide J-visa regulatory and practice expertise to clients, including exchange visitors, host companies, and immigration attorneys through one-on-one consultation, workshops, webinars, web-based information, etc.
- Offer guidance, answer questions, and provide updates and recommendations on meeting requirements of the program and going through the application process.
- Work with Exchange and Communication teams to develop guidance, FAQs, and other informational content for the Company website.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. At least 3 years of experience as a J1 Manager is preferred.
- Prior history working within the legal field is desired.
- The candidate must have project, process and/or operations management experience.
- Will consider candidates with experience as compliance officers or paralegals.
