Questar III BOCES announces a full-time vacancy for a IT Systems Specialist (Civil Service Title: Network Systems Engineer) to support Questar III and component school districts. This is a technical position primarily responsible for the maintenance, operation, configuration, and debugging of network systems. The incumbent will be required to analyze and diagnose network hardware and software problems, research and install new computer network hardware/software systems, and train users on new software and equipment. Applicants must have the ability to demonstrate strong technical and communication skills and meet the minimum qualifications as outlined by the Columbia County Civil Service Commission listed below. Preferred applicants will have experience providing large scale deployments of new software/hardware, and experience with both Microsoft and Apple platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited NYS registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Data Processing, Management of Information Systems or a closely related field AND two years of work experience involving responsibility for the maintenance, configuration or installation of computer hardware and software systems; OR

B) Four years of work experience as defined in (A) above; OR

C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above;
