The IT Systems Administrator will build and maintain computer systems, networks, and applications. Ensuring critical business systems are healthy and providing technical expertise will be key functions of this role. Being an integral part of our infrastructure team, this position will be expected to have a good baseline understanding of Cybersecurity and security best practices. This position will operate in a hybrid model and availability outside of regular hours for escalations and special projects will be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Build and maintain systems to include servers, networks, applications, etc.
  • Utilizing exceptional communication skills, provide end user technical support, education, and training
  • Create and maintain documentation relating to all hardware and software configurations, network configurations, and systems
  • Work closely with IT Security Administrator and other team members supporting the security framework
  • Support peripherals to include printers, phones, handheld scanners, etc.
  • Maintain high-availability systems, data integrity, security and disaster recovery configurations
  • Serve as an escalation point for IT support technicians and other peers
  • Maintain network infrastructure and other IT systems
  • Provide high-level system monitoring with an understanding of reliability, availability, and failure management/mitigation needs
  • Deploy exceptional follow up processes while supporting remote employees, office locations, and retail stores
  • Follow IT change management process
  • Work closely with business users and other internal IT staff, as well as external consultants, to complete projects under high levels of responsibility and autonomy
  • Research solutions and work through all phases leading up to and throughout implementation to include proof of concept, cost negotiation, communication, documentation, and training

COMPETENCIES:

  • Highly experienced with networking concepts and protocols
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and reporting problems
  • Follow security best practices when deploying, upgrading, and maintaining IT systems and services
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to shifting priorities
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly skilled in installing and configuring new hardware/software/systems
  • Comfortable with Powershell and other scripting technologies
  • Ability to work well independently as well as collaborate as part of a team in a fast-paced, growing company


DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • College degree in CIS, Computer Science, a related field, or relevant training and experience
  • 7 years of experience supporting end users, providing technical assistance, and resolving technical issues for Windows/Mac/Linux operating systems
  • 5 years in a server/network/systems support role
  • VMware experience preferred
  • Meraki experience preferred
  • Experience working with cloud providers preferred
  • Experience managing an O365 environment (Hybrid Cloud a plus)
  • Cisco security product familiarity preferred (Firepower, Secure Endpoint, ISE, Umbrella)
  • Experience managing projects
  • Experience with IT change request process
  • Highly skilled working with Active Directory, group policies, and domain replication
  • Security training/certification a plus
