As Stemilt’s Support Technician you are charged with using excellent customer service skills and technical knowledge to assist Stemilters with any information technology (IT) issues they might face. As a Support Technician , provide end-user support and maintenance within the organization’s desktop computing environment, and plant systems, as well as many other administrative tasks as assigned. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance. This position supports four thousand Stemilters and it’s required to deliver extraordinary customer service at all levels, in addition to helping drive performance, efficiency, and quality of work by providing guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to the team, and adhering to company policies, procedures, and system documentation. Excellent prioritizing and organizational skills are a must .
Additional Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to assigned tasks, incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding desktop and thin client problems.
- Immediately respond to any IT or plant system-related issues that cause line downtime.
- Communicate and follow instructions from a higher-level technician remotely.
- Accurately document instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.
- Log all activity in Helpdesk software
- Resolve more complex issues requiring detailed systems and application knowledge.
- Special projects assigned through the Help Desk Manager from the Sr. Systems Administrator or from the Infrastructure/Security Manager.
- Proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of the plant systems
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving all systems.
- Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware needs.
- Creating SOPs
- In-depth hands-on knowledge of and experience with computers, thin clients, and servers appropriate to position level.
- Experience and/or aptitude in troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
- Able to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures.

Experience:
- Working knowledge of PC hardware, software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair
- Knowledge of office equipment such as copier, printer, calculator, fax, etc.
- Experience working with/knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- knowledge of TCP/IP and networking
- Knowledge of DNS/DHCP
- knowledge of Active Directory
- Knowledge of current Windows operating system
- Experience working with/knowledge of imaging PCs and laptops
Qualifications:
- AA Degree or (2) years of experience managing Desktop or Windows Servers
- Current OS Certification Preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to communicate professionally, calmly, and pleasantly
- Exemplary customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships
- Ability to multitask administrative duties and manage distractions
- Ability to learn other software as required
