Irrigation technicians perform many tasks related to the installation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems. These systems include controllers, wiring, automatic & manual control valves, sprinkler heads, low volume drip tubing, micro spray heads, sensors & decoders, and PVC pipe & fitting repairs. Knowledge of both high and low voltage electrical wiring is required to operate sprinkler systems. Irrigation technicians must keep records of completed orders and irrigation maintenance logs and reports. Irrigation controller knowledge is critical both single wire and 2-wire systems. They spend most of their time outdoors in all types of weather conditions.

Working as an irrigation technician requires successfully being able to:

• Understand basic irrigation design principles
• Install and manage commercial and institutional irrigation systems.
• Use shovels, hand and power tools to lay pipes and dig trenches.
• Work with others to ensure underground sprinkler systems function properly.
• Understand and operate multi-manufacturers control systems.
• Communicate with clients about irrigation systems and functions.
• Repair defective or damages sprinkler parts and piping/fittings.
• Lift hand-held machinery and work close to the ground.
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Legally able to work in the United States

Irrigation Specialist:

The Irrigation Specialist is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding hydraulic components of the computer controlled irrigation systems throughout Tampa Bay area. The Irrigation Specialist is a self-starter that can quickly evaluate, diagnose and repair many types of irrigation systems. The field service position may include work from active roadways, amenity centers parks and restricted/confined spaces throughout Master Planned community property.

Basic Qualifications :

• Valid Florida driver’s license
• Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor certification
• Understand basic irrigation design, irrigation equipment, and electrical principles
• Minimum of 5 years’ irrigation experience servicing large multi-acre sites
• Experience with computer and cloud based controlled irrigation systems
• Knowledge of irrigation principles and practices such as soil to water and plant relationships
• Knowledge of pressure regulation valves and piloting systems such as Cla-Val, Watts or Ames
• Ability to understand and service weather/climate and soil based sensors and control equipment
• Proficient using diagnostic tools such as: multimeters, flow meters, fault finders, locators, and leak detectors
• Diagnose and repair single and 2-Wire systems
• Able to repair solvent weld and M.J. pipe & fittings up to 4”.
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices
• Legally able to work in the United States

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
