The Investment Operations Manager will oversee an operations team that will provide analytical and operational assistance in managing the endowment portfolio across all asset classes. The Investment Operations Manager will oversee an operations team that will provide analytical and operational assistance in managing the endowment portfolio across all asset classes. The operations team will work in partnership with the investment team to develop accounting and financial processes, procedures, protocols and controls to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the investment function. This includes participating in operational due diligence and managing the on-boarding and monitoring of investments. The team will also be in charge of gathering, organizing, and presenting data on investment performance and risk attributes with the goal of improving investment evaluation and selection.
- Oversees the implementation of a data and analytical platform for asset allocation, manager analysis and direct investment.
- Implement process improvements around AML (anti-money laundering), KYC (know your client) and portfolio management systems for the CIO and other Managing Directors.
- Articulate and manage an operations strategy that combines middle and back-office experiences to utilize data in new ways.
- Oversee a team of analysts gathering and processing all investment communications from managers, including statements, tax documents, letters, and reports.
- Standardize document collection and recordkeeping system for new and legacy investments.
- Manage the process for on-boarding new investments on monitoring systems including with the custodian.
- Create a flexible reporting platform that tracks all investment cash flows and returns.
- Produce regular portfolio attribution reports and analysis across managers, asset classes, liquidity, and time.
- Assist with operational due diligence, and with the preparation of legal documents such as subscription and redemption documents.
- Oversee daily operational processes including coordinating investment related transactions including new subscriptions, redemptions, and all capital call and distribution activities.
- Reconcile cash, investment transactions and market values with custodian system.
- Prepare monthly performance estimates.
- Assists with audit processes, work with relevant departments and outside auditors as necessary.
- Create ad-hoc reports on portfolio attributes, private market commitments and cash flows, liquidity terms, and investment performance.
- Track investment liquidity by share class, creating reports on portfolio liquidity, track expected cash flows, and manage the process of redeeming from or adding to existing investments.
- College or university degree, CPA designation a plus
- Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience in financial services or investment operations, including time spent managing a team.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office including excel) and adeptness at learning new software. Familiarity with Burgiss and Caissa platforms a plus.
- Exceptional ability for effective time management & meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, and ability to work well under pressure.
- Responsive, can-do, service mentality.
