The Ada County Prosecutor’s Office is dedicated to serving Idaho’s largest community, keeping it a safe place to live and work, giving a voice to crime victims and advocating for the citizens of Ada County.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
- Responsible for processing searches and reports related to background screening applications;
- Conducts and prepares criminal background check packages;
- Accesses a variety of databases to review, collect, copy, and collate criminal background check information;
- Maintains ILETS / NCIC certification;
- Assists with evidence handling, packaging, and storage, and maintains chain-of-custody;
- Examines police reports and court data to ensure proper evidence disposal.
- Retrieves and copies media evidence, ensuring quality transfer across media platforms;
- Resolves inquiries from individuals in person, by telephone, and via correspondence;
- Ability to safely operate a county vehicle (passenger car) in order to facilitate delivery of documents, files and/or records;
- Creates correspondence and reports;
- Maintains statistical data relevant to the assigned department;
- Operates office machines, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and other basic office equipment;
- Performs data entry;
- Proofreads written material for accuracy and completeness.
- Performs related functions as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Knowledge of the court system;
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Adobe;
- Ability to develop, prepare and maintain accurate records and files;
- Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, take initiative, and handle sensitive information in a confidential manner, focus on multiple projects and meet deadlines;
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions;
- Ability to multi-task in manner to increase efficiency;
- Ability to interact and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, elected officials, department heads and the general public.
- The incumbent is subject to a criminal records check and fingerprinting;
- Must adhere to the Code of Ethics for the legal profession;
- The incumbent will work closely with law enforcement and court personnel;
- Must possess and maintain a valid Idaho driver’s license;
- This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
- This position works independently, and shift begins at 5 am weekdays to meet Office needs;
- May be required to lift up to 25 pounds;
- Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
