About the team and position:
The Inventory Manager will be asked to leverage their functional expertise to build & lead a cross-functional team of coordinators and operationalize their responsibilities across the Inspection Center organization. This role will manage all invoicing for the Inspection Center, Post Production and Logistics departments, keep up to date with all manufacturer recalls, and partner closely with the on-site leadership team to maximize department production efforts through associate engagement and development.
This role will work closely with internal & external vendors and effectively manage their performance to ensure they are meeting our expectations and business needs. The ideal candidate for this role will be a driven and energetic people leader who can work cross-functionally across multiple levels and departments, and successfully partner with and manage third-party vendors.
What you'll be doing:
- Help structure and lead a centralized team of Inventory Coordinators responsible for managing the movement of vehicles off-lot and within Carvana Inspection Centers.
- Operationalize the Inventory Coordinator team and responsibilities to roll out across the Inspection Center organization.
- Manage and keep up to date on all manufacturer recalls.
- Partner and maintain quality relationships with internal & external vendors and manage vendor performance to ensure vendors are meeting our expectations and business needs.
- Manage all invoicing for the Inspection Center, Post Production, and Logistics departments.
- Leverage expertise to help meet organization KPIs and measure employees performance, hold employees accountable and maximize department efforts.
- Work closely with the on-site leadership team to hire, train, motivate, and monitor the performance of all inventory department staff.
- Develop and provide guidance to the Inventory Coordinators in order to help them grow their functional expertise and skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you should have:
- 5-7 years of inventory or people management experience strongly preferred.
- Either a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
- Proven track record of monitoring and working with parts vendors to make sure parts are ordered in a timely manner.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with third-party vendors and managing invoicing.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities overseeing multiple teams and initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent oral communication, written communication, and active listening skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail working with computer systems and applications.
- Experience in project management and exceptional organizational skills.
- An ability to learn quickly, effectively transfer knowledge to others, and delegate tasks.
- An ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while sometimes being exposed to excessive weather conditions (heat/cold).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with all departments at the Inspection Center.
It would be great if you also had:
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing invoicing.
- Experience working with vehicle dealerships or third party vendors in the automotive industry.
- Experience in project management overseeing large scale initiatives
- Leadership experience managing across multiple departments.
- Experience working in an ambiguous environment or a fast-paced, growing company.
- An understanding of lean manufacturing principles and concepts.

Other requirements:
To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Physical demands:
- This job position is designated as a safety-sensitive position
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels
- Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet
- Requires standing for an extended period of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance
- Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity
- Requires use of safety equipment that may include but not limited to face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective garments and equipment
- Requires frequent driving and computer data entry
- Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance
