Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Monitor and resolve EDI dashboard for claim kick-out edits
• Manage A/R thru system module and reports
• Resubmit, appeal and follow-up on unpaid/incorrectly processed claims
• Answer incoming insurance specific inquiries·
• Collect on insurance carrier accounts
• Assist with process improvement to bring about greater claims resolution
• Ensure the quality, integrity, and proper work effort of assigned tasks
• Follow all Connecticut Orthopedics policies and procedures including but not limited to Human Resources, administrative, and HIPAA compliance
• Perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required, Associate Degree or higher preferred
• 1-2 years experience in a medical billing department preferred /and /or will consider graduate of a medical billing program
• Existing medical billing and collection experience in physical therapy, DME, and workers comp claims preferable
• Knowledge of CPT/modifiers and ICD-9/ICD-10 codes/Modifiers
• Knowledge of medical terminology/adaptable member of a billing team
• Experience with navigation of insurance websites such as Availity /ability to read EOB's
• Knowledge of claims denials and appeals process
• Excellent Verbal and Written skills
• Experience on EMR system preferred

• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
• Ability to multi-task in high volume billing department
• Experience in an orthopedic billing office as insurance collector a plus!!
