Swedish Medical Center is looking for an Inpatient Nursing Educator (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Main Surgery Recovery/ PACU I at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

Functions in collaboration with the Director and Nurse Managers to develop and maintain the clinical orientation program and competency of all nursing staff. The primary responsibility is to ensure that nursing staff, new to the organization, have the resources, support and knowledge to provide excellent nursing care.

In this position you will:

• Provides support, mentorship, and education to new hires and staff on evenings and nights.
• Develops ongoing strategies to ensure that nursing staff is demonstrating competency and providing care based on standards of nursing practice.
• Demonstrates clinical competency in all phases of the nursing process: collecting data and assessing patient status, planning and implementing patient care based on standards of nursing practice and evaluating results of that care.
• Functions as a professional role model by maintaining current knowledge of nursing care trends, practices and standards.
• Collaborates and participates with managers, clinical nurse specialists and preceptors to ensure the appropriate orientation of newly hired staff, providing appropriate learning opportunities, validating competencies and evaluating the outcome of the orientation process.

Required qualifications for this position include:

• Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program. If incumbent does not have Bachelors of Nursing at time of hire, must be enrolled and actively pursuing Bachelors of Nursing degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of current nursing experience in acute care setting.
• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington.
• Current BLS certification.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Master's Degree.
