Description

As a result of our tremendous growth and innovation, Medline is adding a new position into our Information Services group - Automation Engineer. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow professionally.

We have created this Automation Engineer role where you will primarily be responsible for analyzing manual Linux, Windows, Azure and Virtual Machine processes and then develop, test, implement, and maintain associated automated workflows. This includes staying on top of the latest scripting, automation, and virtualization technologies and understanding where they can optimize Medline's infrastructure processes.

Primary Responsibilities/Key Duties

  • Implement and innovative automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Create multi-product interaction via RESTful APIs, pipelines, and workflows
  • Work closely with team members to achieve project goals
  • Work with other IT departments to integrate automation into the overall DevOps platform
  • Install and configure systems in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Implement automation to:
  • Quickly deploy infrastructure and multi-tier applications
  • Manage infrastructure and application configurations
  • Auto discover and remediate configuration drift
  • Manage automated server administration including but not limited to:
  • Server patching
  • Server installation
  • Achieve and maintain desired state configuration
  • Implement automated solutions utilizing but not limited to:
  • Terraform
  • vRealize Automation/VMware Aria
  • SUSE Manager/Spacewalk
  • SALT
  • Python
  • Powershell DSC

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/IT related degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in Python, Powershell DSC, YAML, Jinja, Perl, or other similar scripting language
  • Experience with mainstream Linux (such as SUSE or RedHat) and\or Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience with SALT, Powershell DSC, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or other configuration management product a plus.
  • Ability to build, configure, document, automate, and manage Linux and\or Windows Server Operating Systems on physical and virtual hardware
  • Ability to automate preventive maintenance tasks on Linux Servers
  • Driven individual looking to gain new skills and effectively learn new technologies; demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Good problem solving ability with sound judgment and analytical skill when assessing a problem.
  • Good communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and a solid team player.
  • Possible minimal overnight travel may be required in the future.
