POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice-President of Finance, the Information Technician Coordinator is responsible for ensuring system availability and internal customer satisfaction by maintaining network performance and security.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installs and configures new hardware and software; maintains inventory of hardware and software for servers and user computers.
  • Monitors, tunes and maintains network performance; gathers, analyzes data and prepares reports of findings and recommendations.
  • Maintain the organization's inventory by monitoring and updating current supply of materials by properly tracking all inventory into the HRIS system.
  • Reviews reports and system logs of computer and peripheral equipment and takes corrective action or makes recommendations as necessary.
  • Maintains network and internet security; Identifies, reviews, recommends, implements and performs ongoing administration of Firewalls, IDs, spam filters; assigns appropriate access entitlements.
  • Coordinates, obtains and applies updates to software, hardware and security related patches to all operating systems in use as required.
  • Documents network configuration.
  • Optimizes system performance by adjusting server settings.
  • Utilizes system monitoring tools to respond to application and hardware failures or degradation and performs incident management.
  • Provides end user support; takes ownership of escalated trouble tickets.
  • Interacts with network services staff and others to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems; recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems.
  • Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties.
  • Schedules, performs and manages regular backups to facilitate data integrity, data storage and recovery.
  • Works with technology team to develop and maintain standards, procedures, methodologies and user guidelines for effective operation, access, control, backup and recovery of application servers.
  • Works closely with other departments; stays abreast of developing network technologies and provides recommendations regarding the future application of such technologies and the productivity gains to be achieved.
  • Follows Information Technology policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, security and legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in the development, maintenance and testing of the Agency's Disaster Recovery solution to ensure the continuity of business in the event of a disaster.
  • Maintains and extends strong and positive relationships with internal customers.
  • Incorporates Agency philosophy and mission in all aspects of job description.
  • Receives feedback with commitment to on-going refinement and professional growth.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding children, families and agency operations.
  • Exercises good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor's in science in the field of information technology, or computer science
  • Two (2) to three (3) years' experience preferred
  • Must maintain a valid California Drivers' License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy

  • Working technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols and standards. Working knowledge of relational database structure and design.
  • Proficiency in MS Office systems
  • Knowledge of technology trends and how to apply new infrastructure technologies.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and laws (e.g. HIPAA) and ability to identify and resolve security, reliability and efficiency problems.
  • Project management and time management skills.
  • Ability to explain technical issues at appropriate levels to technical and non-technical staff throughout the Agency.
