Job Description

Noga Foods, a 4th generational family-owned and operated cheese manufacturer located in Schiller Park, IL, is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic II to join the team.

What you will do as a Maintenance Mechanic II:

The Maintenance Mechanic II works in partnership with company leadership and Production leadership to perform basic to extensive maintenance and electrical repairs on food manufacturing machinery equipment, including conveyors, packaging equipment, vacuum sealing equipment , production equipment, electrical controls systems and other related plant systems, while adhering to safety rules and focusing on food safety.

Essential Functions

To perform jobs successfully, the incumbent will be required to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation. The company reserves the right to modify, delete or add to the essential functions at any time.

• Able to understand simple drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Able to troubleshoot and repair all mechanical equipment in assigned areas.
• Able to troubleshoot and analyzes control systems to resolve software/ hardware and configuration problems.
• Able to proficiently PM assigned equipment with no supervision required.
• Assists with training Operators on equipment.
• Follows all safety policies and practices; proactively identifies safety hazards and risks.
• 60% of work will be production-related in overseeing and repair.
• Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages while collaborating with other departments. This includes but is not limited to: observing devises in operation to locate root cause of problem; dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts; examining parts to detect imperfections; adjustment of functional parts of devices and control instruments; repair and/or replacement of defective parts; testing of device to observe performance; and performing tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems; reconditioning and repairing machine tools.
• Proficient in the operation of all plant equipment to better troubleshoot and maintain as required.
• Communicate with team leaders and production associates regarding critical findings during routine inspections.
• Identify and sources parts, supplies and repair items as necessary.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school or GED diploma
• Fluent in English and/or bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Minimum associate degree or equivalent years of experience.
• 3-5+ years of Maintenance Food Manufacturing experience / SQF certified plant. (Required)
• Work authorization (Required)

Abilities:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Understands electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems.
• Can analyze problems and perform repairs.
• Must be able to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively train others.
• Must be able to read work documents in English.
• Strong focus on safety
• Good understanding of plant quality requirements
• Good working knowledge of GMP’s
• Strong team orientation

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use close vision and color vision. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Work is typically performed in a factory environment and is usually loud.

Benefit Conditions:

• Overtime including weekends for P/M, Installations, and troubleshooting
• Employees working 30 hours or more are eligible for the following benefits: PTO/Holidays, Insurance - Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, ESL. Waiting period may apply

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
