Major Responsibilities:

• Manage the preparation and development of the IATF audit process & other internal KPI measures (20% of daily activities)
• Manage the inspection of parts from welding stations on the production floor, recording defects, making key decisions to pass/stop production, and building rapport with operators (20% of daily activities)
• Operate all the measurements according to the Control Plan (CMM, laser scanning, Hardness tests, welding tests, tensile test, calipers, etc.) (20% of daily activities)
• Manage preparation of destructive weld samples for inspection using: (20% of daily activities)
• power tools and sectioning equipment
• mounting press to epoxy the sample in resin
• grinding and polishing equipment to clean the metal surface
• etchants to highlight the weld fusion on the samples
• Process Adjustments, routine inspections, and quality tests (20% of daily activities)
• Inspect all incoming materials from suppliers for use in welding assembly and make reports into the quality system (As required)
• Assist in root cause corrective action, containment, defective production, and maintenance support activities in accordance with business and internal regulations (As required)
• Participate in various levels of internal and external audits (As required)
• Make continuous improvement efforts through Kaizen work philosophy

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

• CMM & hand tools experience required
• 2nd shift preferred with training occurring on 1st shift
• Education - Must possess basic quality knowledge obtained through formal university or college training or combination of training and experience. Engineering degree preferred
• 1-3 years previous experience in the Tier 1/automotive environment that demonstrates ability to learn multiple tasks is preferred
• Excellent record of attendance (willing to work overtime and weekends as needed)
• Ability to perform visual inspections, mechanical measurements, and calibration verifications (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
• Desired - 2+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance or Control in an Analyst role. Practical knowledge of metal stamping, metal working, destructive metal testing, welding, etc. Experience in hot stamp forming is preferred.
• Ability to or willing to learn usage of power tools (angle grinder, drill, etc.)

Summary:

This role is a direct report to the Quality & Plant Manager, assisting in general quality activities including control of quality records, monitoring quality objectives at all levels, implement, monitor, and maintain the IATF-accredited Quality Management System (QMS), evaluation/disposition of non- conformances, audits (on-site and internal), as well as technical support of the on-site quality laboratory. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong customer relations and ensure customer satisfaction so maintaining a thorough understanding of customer expectations and coordinating the internal efforts to meet those desired standards is required. Skills validation & employee evaluations can be completed every six months to evaluate knowledge.
