General Job Description:

An Import/Export Specialist organizes and monitors shipments of product to domestic and international locations. This position will prepare, and process all required documents and permits for shipping purposes, conduct quality inspections of shipments, and maintain records of all invoices and transactions. This position will also monitor and track LTL shipments, and work with vendor and carriers to ensure products arrive at their destinations on time as requested by the customer. In addition, this position will work with Procurement and Fulfillment staff to ensure that all imports and exports adhere to company and regulatory standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Create import/export documentation for all freight shipments
• Process and ensure accuracy of customs documentation
• Work with freight carriers, partners and custom brokers with import and export issues associated with all freight shipments
• Track, trace, and report shipments to ensure timely delivery to all customers and inbound shipments to WPS
• Assist in handling and resolving freight claims
• Maintain accurate records for compliance per US Customs rules and regulations
• Maintain electronic records for daily import and export activity
• Attend annual off-site trainings, conferences, and webinars for training and fulfillment of essential functions and key responsibilities
• Work with Procurement to communicate all inbound shipments
• All other duties as required or needed

Education and Experience:

• 4 – 6 years of domestic and international logistics shipping
• High School diploma or equivalent, required.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit stand, use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, talk and hear.
• The employee must possess the ability to navigate the complexities of import/export shipping compliance and practice the safety requirements and policies of the Company.
• This individual must be a responsible person and regular attendance is required.

Hours: (This should only be for non-exempt roles. Exempt roles should not have hours listed) This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm with one 30-minute break for lunch and two rest breaks. Eight hours per day is required and other occasional overtime may be necessary per business needs.
