The IBM iSeries Programmer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and testing programming applications on IBMi to established specifications using the RPG programming language. The duties and responsibilities include programming and testing code to applications to reflect the current business needs of the users.

This is a full-time U.S. Based, remote, or hybrid role-Holbrook, NY.

Work hours are 8:30a -5:30p M-F Eastern time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements/design/code/test and implement all phases of the application development cycle
  • Work closely with the Director of ERP to understand the complex processes and applications being used on Systems 2000 Application
  • Analyze programming applications, detect, diagnose and correct problems
  • Maintain existing IBMi applications and develop new applications from user specifications
  • Proactively monitor the performance of assigned application software and investigate user-initiated issues to improve operating efficiency and effectiveness of assigned applications
  • Test application software to assure accuracy, integrity, interoperability and completeness to achieve desired results
  • Complete assigned programming implementation with high quality and on schedule
  • Work with users to identify opportunities to improve operating effectiveness and efficiency of applications

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ Years of experience with strong technical, functional and communication skills. Very efficient in application design, gathering functional knowledge and application support
  • Programming languages - RPGLE, RPG/400, CL/400. SQLRPGLE
  • Database – DB2/400, Query management
  • Tools - SEU, RLU, DFU, SDA, Job Scheduler
  • System Administration – User Profile Maintenance, Accesses & Server Maintenance
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems is a must. Purchasing, S&R, A/P, A/R, G/L, Sales and Manufacturing modules.
  • Experience with ERP Customer integrations.
  • Ability to work with API’s and various integration techniques cross platforms.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced collaborative team environment is a MUST!
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills are a MUST!
  • Ability to create and maintain positive relationships
  • VAI Systems 2000 Application Experience would go a very long way
